Birthday edition of the roundup. The first edition of the roundup
was posted on 12/7/2009, and contained just a few links. I created

blog posts around the world, and also as an outlet for geek stuff I
found to be fun :)

Next month, I'll be speaking at Tech
Ed Europe 2010 in Berlin. I'm really excited, as I haven't been
further east than Lille, France. I've always heard Germany was a
great place to visit.
I'm presenting three sessions, covering WPF and Silverlight,
plus some time on the Silverlight Experts Roundtable:

While on campus in May, I met with the WCF RIA Services team at
Microsoft. We discussed both the awesome parts and the difficult
parts of the recent product release.
Microsoft WCF RIA Services simplifies the traditional n-tier
application pattern by bringing together the ASP.NET and
Silverlight platforms. RIA Services provides a pattern to write
application logic that runs on the ...

The demo I presented at the Portland Code Camp on Saturday was a
modified version of Brad Abrams' multi-part RIA Services
walkthrough.
You can find a full index to the series on Brad's old blog. The completed application is
also available from that page.
I also used AdventureWorks as the database. You can grab the AdventureWorks sample databases from
codeplex.

I've watched each ctp, beta, and release of Silverlight with
delight. I wrote a production application in 1.1a and
never looked back. This will be my first Silverlight release as a
Microsoft employee, and I'm happy to say it doesn't disappoint.
Three years ago today, the name "Silverlight" was
officially announced, and the tong-twisting code-name "WPF/E" was
no longer.
As a 'softie...
